The Art of Giving Away Money

I think one of the best things a person can do to improve their life is to give away their money. Okay, I’m not talking about giving away ALL of your money necessarily, and I’m definitely not talking about giving it away to con artists like corrupt politicians and televangelists. I’m talking about giving away some of your money to people who really need it and deserve it. Doing that just results in good, all the way around.

I’ve just never understood insanely rich people who just hoard all their money. For them, accumulation of wealth is the goal, as if they can somehow take it with them when they die. And they seem to spend just stupid amounts of money on silly things like a fleet of yachts and trying to go to space. No matter how much you try to explain that to me, I’ll never get it. Never. I mean, how much money does one person really need?

And yet, there are lots and lots and lots of people out there who desperately need money. People who are just doing their best day to day to survive in this unforgiving world.

I’ve got three videos for you. The first one is good, the second is even better, and the third is the best.

I mean, why wouldn’t you want to give money away to people in need? It just creates joy. And who doesn’t want joy?!

I hope you watch all three of these videos, and that they make you feel good inside.

The Drive-Thru Tipper

This guy is one of a gazillion young people out there trying to make videos about… whatever. I love this video because his original plan went off the tracks so he ended up just giving really good tips to drive-thru workers. Not huge money, but it’s probably stretching his checking account a little more than he can afford. And the tips are a really big deal to the people working the drive-thrus. I would much rather spend my money like this than on a 15-minute trip to outer space just to show off. And I’m positive the video that he originally planned wouldn’t have turned out nearly as good, or had remotely as much impact, as this one did.

Anyway, see what you think. This is something just about everybody can do.

A Bad Day Turned Into a Good Day

Another great video. How many times have you been in a restaurant and you could tell the waiter or waitress was just having a bad day, but still working hard because they had no other choice. Fortunately, some people are born with a lot of empathy and do something about it. A $300 tip seems like sooooo much money, but you know what, it’s just money. In 10 years none of the people in this video will care about the actual amount, but they’ll never forget the results.

Just a Good, Good Man

This one was really unexpected, and it’s my favorite. I see a loooooooooooottttttta people in this world going on and on about religion and Jesus and church and the Bible and blah blah blah blah blah… But the thing is, with the vast majority of them, I can’t recognize the Jesus of the New Testament in them at all. I just don’t get the hate that pours out of them. But this guy… This guy in this video. When I watch this, I do see the Jesus of the New Testament. Now, I don’t like religion at all, and I don’t partake in it anymore. But what this guy is showing in this video… well, I can definitely get on board with that.
