When I was in my 20s, I wanted to be around cool people. Then in my 30s and much of my 40s, I wanted to be around successful people. But now, in my 50s, I’m just drawn to kind people. It’s like a kindness magnet. That’s who I want to be around, kind people. I mean, VACCINATED kind people. But then, the kind ones are almost always vaccinated (concerned not just for their own health, but for the health of others as well).
The thing is, after the last few years, I still have a very hard time when I hear others say that most people are basically good. I really want to believe that. I long to believe that. It’s just pretty hard, because it seems like good, kind people are the exception, not the rule. Maybe I’m wrong. I hope I’m wrong. But it’s going to take a whole lot more evidence for me to buy into that completely.
And that’s why I’m so drawn to videos like the one below. I can’t get enough of things like this. My radar is always on, looking for the kind people in society.
This little Woody O’Rourke is the kindest, gentlest of souls. And the players who take the time to come over and celebrate with him… those are my kind of people. I just want there to be more of them in the world.
Take a look, and see if this doesn’t just make you smile…
This is a terrific post. So true, heartwarming and inspiring!
